Pop icon Britney Spears took to Instagram on Thursday night to voice her support for the cast and crew of the Once Upon a One More Time musical, which features her greatest hits such as Oops!... I Did It Again, Lucky, Toxic, and Stronger. The 41-year-old singer praised the show, calling it 'funny, smart, and brilliant.'
Jukebox Musical Comedy with a Feminist Twist
The musical is set in a fantasy storybook realm and follows classic fairy-tale characters like Cinderella, the Little Mermaid, and Snow White as they experience a feminist awakening after starting a book club. Produced by Tony winners James L. Nederlander and Hunter Arnold, the show opened at the Marquis Theatre on Thursday night to mixed reviews.
Britney's Blessing and the End of Conservatorship
After the end of her conservatorship in November 2021, Britney Spears fully authorized and licensed her music for the stage production in 2022. Arnold told The Hollywood Reporter that everyone involved believed the show needed to be a homage to the iconography of her career and a direct benefit to her.
